Overview
Changing the name of the Homepage, Profile, Stages or Steps in a submission portal is useful for customizing the experience of portal users to better reflect an individual program. This can be done at any time in the Submission Portal Settings. This article will show how that is achieved.
Where to Edit the Names of the Homepage, Profile, Stages, and Steps
In the Submission Portal Settings, the option to configure the name of the Homepage, Profile, a Stage or Step can be found on the Portal Settings page.
To find the setting to edit name of the Homepage, Profile, a Stage or Step:
- Logged into a program as an administrator, navigate to the Settings & Tools section by selecting the cog wheel icon in the top navigation bar.
- Select the Submission Portal tile from the Plugin Settings section.
- Select the Edit button to the appropriate submission portal.
- Select the link for the section to be renamed in the Portal Sections panel on the left side of the screen: the Homepage, Profile, a Stage, or a Step. See the sections below for specific instructions about each.
Changing the Name of the Homepage
After navigating to the Submission Portal’s Portal Settings page:
- Select Homepage from the left panel menu.
- The middle and right side of the screen populates with the Homepage Settings.
- To change the name of the Homepage, select anywhere within the title.
- Edit the name as needed.
- Select anywhere off the title to accept the changes.
- Select the blue Save all settings button in the lower right corner of the screen to save the changes.
Where the Change Appears in the Submission Portal
As an example, if the Homepage label was changed to Landing Page, the screenshot below shows where the label displays for submission portal users.
Changing the Name of the Profile
After navigating to the Submission Portal’s Portal Settings page:
- Select Profile from the left panel menu.
- The middle and right side of the screen populates with the Profile Settings.
- To change the name of the Profile, select anywhere within the title.
- Edit the name as needed.
- Select anywhere off the title to accept the changes.
- Select the blue Save all settings button in the lower right corner of the screen to save the changes.
Where the Change Appears in the Submission Portal
As an example, if the Profile label was changed to User Information, the screenshot below shows where the label displays for submission portal users.
Changing the Name of a Stage
After navigating to the Submission Portal’s Portal Settings page:
- Select the name of the Stage from the left panel menu.
- The middle and right side of the screen populates with the Stage Settings.
- To change the name of the Stage, select anywhere within the title.
- Edit the name as needed.
- Select anywhere off the title to accept the changes.
- Select the blue Save all settings button in the lower right corner of the screen to save the changes.
Where the Change Appears in the Submission Portal
As an example, if the Stage label was changed from Application Intake to Intake Form, the label and color on the tile within the Homepage screen updates accordingly.
Changing the name for required or external stages has the same effect on the associated tile on the Homepage.
The label change also appears on the screen after selecting the tile; see the screenshot below for an example.
Changing the Name of a Step
After navigating to the Submission Portal’s Portal Settings page:
- Select Step from the left panel menu.
- The middle and right side of the screen populates with the Step Settings.
- To change the name of the Step, select anywhere within the title.
- Edit the name as needed.
- Select anywhere off the title to accept the changes.
- Select the blue Save all settings button in the lower right corner of the screen to save the changes.
Where the Change Appears in the Submission Portal
As an example, if the Step label was changed from APPLICATION to Submission Form, the label change appears for the relevant Step viewable on the Submissions Page.
Portal users logged into the submission portal can access the Submissions Page by:
- Selecting the + Get Started tile, or
- Opening an existing tile on the Homepage screen.
The screenshot below shows where the Step label displays for submission portal users.
